Stayed here working away and have to say... One of the BEST hotels I've ever been to. Arrived late at 7pm after a horrible day at work to which I was greeted with a smile and welcomed into joining everyone for dinner. Dinner was superb and so beautifully presented, staff were all so friendly and welcoming even with me looking horrible after a long day! The location is fantastic out in the heart of the Lake district looking out towards Scarfell Pike and Great Gable. Was then welcomed with lovely news that every room includes a free breakfast... Had a great day the day after! One of the best breakfast I've ever had. Continental, but rather than a lukewarm breakfast it was the best I've had nearly ever..! And fresh coffee! Not pods, but fresh coffee beans that had been crushed for me! Honestly can't recommend enough, amazing staff, fantastic hotel, only criticism I could possibly give is the TV in the room was a bit small? But the rooms were stunning, beds were so cozy and slept like a log.. Stayed with work... But will be back for a holiday!!
Definitely a hotel with aspersions to bring a high end hotel. Rooms were very compact (only an issue for unpacking and repacking), bar was friendly and restaurant pre fixe, excellent, with generous portions and 48pound if you take all three portions (the "dessert" cheese spread was particularly huge). For hikers, the drying room was appreciated.
I’ve stayed here twice now and no doubt I’ll be back! It’s perfectly situated towards the end of the borrowdale valley with plenty of walking straight from the hotel. The hotel bar is welcoming with its fires lit, when you return! Staff are friendly and accommodating. Single rooms are good with enough room however the double room on my second visit was giant, all are en-suite. Breakfast is great and good quality with all of the usual items.
Our second time to go here, but this time we brought the Parents to show them the lovely place, lovely view, lovely staff and such a peaceful hotel. They love the foods there so much, such a five star hotel quality, very tasty and very amazing quality. Will definitely come back again.
